I am so happy that you have discovered my little store!
Let me tell you a bit about myself and how American Farmgirl came to be a part of the farmhouse movement in this competitive market of vintage style and apparel.
WHO IS AMERICAN FARMGIRL?
I have always loved junk, antiques and really anything old and rusty. I grew up around such things and found them to be very comforting. I was raised in Central Arkansas by a single mother and spent a lot of time with my grandparents, great grand parents and elderly aunts and uncles who also valued their old junk and rust. Their simple life style and values became mine and created such wonderful memories for me. It was really all I knew.
Today, I live in the Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas in a little cove on Beaver Lake. We love living in the country. It's quiet, the air is cleaner and time does slow down just a little bit from the hectic movements of town. My husband and I have been married 33 years and have two grown children; our daughter is 30 and son is 26. Both happy, healthy productive adults. And we have one gran girl from our daughter and son-in-law. She has captured our heart.
We don't actually farm (just chickens), we're just country people who came from farm stock on both sides of the family. My great grandparents on my dad's side were cattle and horse ranchers in Magnolia, Arkansas and my grandparents on my mother's side owned a hobby farm in Prescott, Arkansas raising chickens, cows and goats. My Papa always had an acre garden that kept everyone fed and he was a bee keeper spinning the best honey you have ever tasted. My husband's grandparents on both sides were share croppers their whole lives chopping cotton in the Arkansas Delta.
HOW WAS AMERICAN FARMGIRL BORN?
My love of junking and collecting antiques over the years has placed me in a vendor world of traveling pop-up shows where I have met many wonderful people and learned a lot about the junkin' business.
I decided to create America Farmgirl as a brand...a lifestyle. It's not really about being a farmgirl today...it's about where we came from. It's about embracing traditional values, a simpler way of life. It's about celebrating hardworking Americans...those we love and support and embracing our freedoms as Americans such as the 2nd Amendment. It's about standing for God and country. It's about time...don't you think?
